I’m starting to collect my thoughts, and I have a couple posts in the works, but before that I thought I’d give a general update on a couple things. I’m a couple weeks into my next to last semester here, which has been busy but also rewarding. Now that Christmas is behind me, it definitely feels like I’m on the downhill side of my time here. I’m starting to map out my last six months, and figuring out what things I can and can’t fit in. One thing I hope to do is make it out to Korea soon. I’m starting to put a trip together and hope to get out there around the time school gets out for the spring.
In other news I’m starting to put together my portfolio for school. I found out that I didn’t have enough of my studio class prerequisites to apply to NYU this year, so I’m hoping to fulfill those requirements at Kendall College of Art and Design back in Grand Rapids with the goal of reapplying at NYU next year. Going to Kendall was a dream of mine when I was in high school, so that and the fact that I’ll be home again after three years in Japan has me pretty excited.
A couple smaller items: Now that I finally have my new light meter (a story which will be recounted in the near future) I’ve been able to start taking pictures on a more regular basis, so check my flickr site in the next week for new photos—and hopefully some nicely exposed ones at that. After almost half a year with no success, my cell phone provider recently made some tweaks to their mobile online support, and I’m able to now update my twitter account directly from my phone. Though perhaps not the biggest news story, I’m still pretty excited by it, and had quite a lot of fun updating with it this past weekend.
I plan on being back again with more soon, but in the meantime if you need me I’ll be comfortably wrapped up under my kotatsu. I’m still keeping out hope that I can squeeze it into my suitcase when I come home. Maybe if I just buy a big enough suitcase…
