Wow, when you’re placeholder racks up multiple comments and sits around feeling self important for weeks on end you know you’re in trouble…
I’m really sorry about not getting this up sooner, last week was the first week back at school and there was much to be done. At the new school I’m teaching at I’m also not really allowed to use theinternet (err…) which kinda added to the mix.
So now in to the new happenings.
As I’ve alluded before, I’m teaching at a brand new school now. The new school year has started. And once again I’m doing enough self introductions to account for a small country. This time around though I was asked specifically to do it all onpowerpoint , which has been interesting as they have yet to provide me with a projector. So instead I’ve had to do the whole thing using a small laptop which is only visible to maybe the first five students. When asked whether it wouldn’t be easier to just use an overhead projector and the old overheads that I had made forTaito, the teacher told me rather frankly that they couldn’t remember ever seeing an actual overhead projector in the school. Hohoho, what an exciting semester this is turning into!!
If you’ve checked out my recent pictures you’ve perhaps come to a few conclusions; hopefully the biggest of which is that there’s a lot of them! I have been usingFlickr for all my photo uploading needs, and have really enjoyed it’s layout and ease of use. Being kinda stingy though, I had doggedly stuck with their free version which had limited the amount of pictures I could upload each month. Finally last month though, with the onset of my birthday, I decided to treat myself, and consequently you as well, by upgrading my account to pro status; thereby allowing me unlimited uploads, as well as other nifty features. Hopefully that will keep my properly motivated in my photo taking department, though having the warmer weather also doesn’t hurt. Another reason for my upsurge in pictures has been the purchase over the last few weeks of a couple new lenses for my cameras. After years of pining, I thought now that I’m working and supporting myself I might as well finally take the plunge and splurge a little. Not too much though mind you. There’s a really nice camera shop over inOmiya that I had been frequenting, and I was able to find a couple nice used lens that were in my price range. I now have a nice telephoto zoom, and a super wide angle zoom to help diversify my photo taking abilities. Not bad!
Last but not least, if you’ve been paying attention you might notice one other fun fact in my recent pictures; and that is my new haircut! Now this is probably not that big a deal for most of you, but ask my mother about it and she will promptly testify to the significance of my new ‘do. I had been growing my hair out pretty much since I landed here in Japan, but with the onset of spring, and the feeling of spring in my own heart blossoming and pulsating freely, I decided that it was time for a change. Leaving my hair in the capable (and very tender, in a masculine, testosterone pumping sort of way), the old was cut off, and the new burst forth in a jubilant and joyous clamour of sound and praise. Hallelujah! Rejoice!!
As this month rockets past the half way mark, thoughts of other exciting events close on the horizon quickly pop to mind. And no, I’m not referring to the premiere ofSpiderman 3 (though I will take the opportunity to gleefully mention that it comes out in Japan before anywhere else in the world, heeheehee ). With the end of the month comes the wonderful event in Japan known as Golden Week, where all–due to overlapping of multiple national holidays–are guaranteed almost a full week of glorious, scrumptious, delightedly fabulous vacation time! Hurray! Not quite sure what I’ll be doing yet, but without a doubt one of those things will be seeingSpiderman 3 before the whole rest of the world, mwa ha ha!!! *ahem*
I think that’s where I’ll leave things for today, but do check out my Flickr site for a few new pictures, and check back regularly as I’ll be posting new ones frequently.
Thanks again for your patience, and hope you enjoy!
