I was at the new IKEA store in Yokohama recently, and found a wonderful table and wall clock at about $10 apiece. Getting the stuff home was a little tricky, but well worth it. I’ve also been wanting to purchase an acoustic guitar for a while, and this past weekend decided it had been long enough. I went to a lovely music store down in Omiya (the major hub of Saitama), and was found a really nice Ibanez acoustic guitar at a really reasonable price (it was on sale, and they were also throwing in a bunch of free stuff with it). The sound is really nice, and it’s great to have something to strum away at again. This coming weekend I’m going to try and head over to Akihabara to look for a region free DVD player (I’ve been wanting to watch DVD’s over here, but Apple seems to have made the region feature rather difficult to skirt around…) so we’ll see what I can find!

note

This note was given to me by a little girl named Hinoko who I made paper airplanes with at church last Sunday.

The note says:

おにいさんへ

すごいね!!ひこうきをつくってすごいね

てんさいだね、いや、ひこうきてんさいだ!

ひのこより

Which translates roughly as:

Dear mister,

Wow!! It’s so cool that you can make an airplane

You must be a genius, no wait, you must be an airplane genius!

From Hinoko
